Billy Bob the Cactus Blob DX Director's Cut Review

by Philip

I'll get straight to the point. Billy Bob isn't a huge size, so it is easy to download. Passes my test. When I started playing, I thought it was graphically amaturish. However, I soon stopped comparing it to Far cry, and realised that there was more to it than meets the eye. I like the way you are able to overlap the front of things and not get bounced off. This shows a good understanding of the games creator, and small things like that always make the game better. The size is amazing for a relatively small download, and the way the game varies is very interesting. The scorpion man and the seizure sections made me play it over and over again, and the tractor bit is very original. Its got as many mini quests as Final Fantasy! That was as far as I got. I kept on getting this 'error' message, and the lack of the quick-saving facility is somewhat irritating half an hour through playing, and having to quit. Some of the quests were obscure (eg. Shoot the ground because its a different colour) but other than that, this game is very good. Oh, and the music. It is very good and shows alot of time and effort has gone into it. The gameplay with the different cactus types adds variety to it, and the side kick I encountered makes things even more varied, if somewhat pointless. At the end of the day, these games are free, and out of them this is one of the best. And that's saying something.
