Billy Bob the Cactus Blob 0.5

 

   Well, there isn't really much to say on this one. Long before any actual work was done on the game, and shortly after Billy Bob 2 Was released, TLONMASTER gave me a holler. The title of Billy Bob 1.5 got him thinking...couldn't there be a 0.5 as well? We both thought it would be interesting to play as someone other than Billy Bob, while still retaining the Billy Bob feel.

    So who would you play as? Well, TLONMASTER, to my surprise, had already completed about seven levels of the game, but they were extremely boring, and you did just about nothing. But it was off to a good start. Needless to say, neither he nor I touched it for about a year or so.

    While making Billy Bob #: Subtitle, I realized something: while making an almost good Billy Bob game, why not go ahead and make Billy Bob 0.5 as well, and make it inter-connect with Billy Bob #: Subtitle?

    So then I began work. You'll notice that the first seven levels are very different than the rest of the game. You probably figured out that the first seven=TLONMASTER, and the rest=me. I did have to go and change some things around, however. So now I bring you...BILLY BOB 0.5 BETA SCREENSHOTS!

 

   Okay, here's the first one. "But Phlibbit!" you say. "It's the EXACT SAME title screen!" Oh ho ho, my friends, that's where you're wrong. Y'see, the logo's letters go off the screen, and I didn't fancy that too much. So the current title screen's letters are all in the screen, heheh.

    

    Next screenshot. The spelling in this level was so terrible that I really needed to change it to be halfway legible.

 

    Now, I don't really know how the skunk, or this secret password, for that matter, worked into things, so I took it out.

        

Cactus Mexico Town. I thought more scenery and storytelling was needed, so I added some in.

    

    Oh yes, before the hole monster. As with the last level, I added some scenery. 

   

    And TLONMASTER's last level: the Super Crab With Cape and Cowboy Hat. Pretty bland, compared to the actual level, huh?

    

Now here's where the real game begins. Where was I supposed to go from there? Well, having Roberto follow you became very glitchy for me, so I took him out in the very next level.

    First, I thought of some simple levels to integrate previous Billy Bob game levels into this one. My first idea involved Billy Bo making some trail mix, which ultimately gets picked up by Billy Bob in Billy Bob 1.5.

    While I was making Billy Bob #: Subtitle, I had a large Afro Beaver boss level. I figured I could explain that one here as well.

    After this, I figured I should just go ahead and explain everything. I covered everything from how Juliet became the Cactus King, how Hickman McGee was possessed, and even how Too Mah Toe became to be, which was an idea that came to me at the last second before completing the game.
